The theme chosen by popular vote, Latinoamérica, will bring Caribbean rhythms, feathers, sequins and overwhelming energy to the city hall. From comparsas to murgas, passing through batucadas and dance groups, the carnival stage will be transformed into a real cultural journey overseas.
The mayor of La Oliva, Isaí Blanco, emphasized the importance of keeping the tradition alive:
“Our goal is to organize a carnival that preserves our identity with the help of the real protagonists, the carnival groups”.
For her part, the councilor for parties, Omaira Saavedra, highlighted the fundamental role of murgas, comparsas and collectives:
“Without the groups there would be no carnival”.
The main events of Carnival 2026

Among the most emblematic events are the ninth edition of the Carrera Carnavalera, the second Carrera de Tacones, the highly anticipated Murgas Marathon and the colorful Coso Carnavalero, which will cross the main streets of Corralejo filling the town with imagination and creativity.
The carnival begins with “La Corbata”
As a preview, the traditional Carnaval de La Corbata will be held in La Oliva on Saturday 28 February, with a carnival walk and evening verbena, to warm up the atmosphere before the official start.
