La Oliva is the latest municipality in Fuerteventura to officially designate a beach for dog owners to be able to legally exercise their pets. The town Hall has allocated the Bristol beach in Corralejo for this purpose, after campaigning by residents in area.
The first bilingual school in Fuertevenura is soon to be constructed after planning permission was granted. The school will be located in the Tuineje municipality, a short distance from Gran Tarajal.

The picturesque little town of Pajara only has a small population despite its administrative importance on the tourist centres of the Jandia peninsula.

Pajara village (not to be confused the municipality of Pajara) has a small population of around and the town (for Fuerteventuran standards) has a fair amount of trees and bushes. There are even lawns and a freshwater swimming pool. Just outside the Town Hall sits a fine old disused ‘camel driven’ waterwheel, and close to that is the leafy church square.

Located opposite the church, this cosy restaurant, complete with wooden beams and stone walls, serves an excellent selection using local produce. Make sure to try one of the traditional rabbit or kid dishes. Mains range from €6-12 per head.
